What does the Guru Granth Sahib say about Sachkhand — the realm of truth — and how does one reach it?

Guidance from Gurbani

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. The Guru Granth Sahib describes Sachkhand, the Realm of Truth, as the ultimate spiritual abode where the Formless Lord resides. It is not a physical place that can be located on a map, but rather a state of being, a spiritual realization achieved through profound devotion and understanding of the Divine Will. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, in the Jap Ji Sahib, elaborates on Sachkhand as the realm where the Creator watches over all creation with grace, where countless forms, universes, and spiritual planes exist, all operating under the Divine Order. It is a realm of infinite power and beauty, beyond human comprehension and description, where the devotee merges with the Divine Essence.

The path to Sachkhand is not through rituals or ascetic practices, but through cultivating a life aligned with truth, righteousness, and continuous remembrance of the Divine Name (Naam Simran). The Guru Granth Sahib emphasizes that one reaches Sachkhand by living a life of honest labor, sharing with others, and meditating on the Divine. It is through shedding ego, cultivating humility, and surrendering to the Guru's teachings that the soul progresses on this spiritual journey. The mind must be purified, and one must overcome the five vices (lust, anger, greed, attachment, and ego). By internalizing the Divine Word (Shabad) and living according to its wisdom, the individual soul (Jeevan Mukt) attains liberation while still living and ultimately merges with the Supreme Being in Sachkhand. The journey involves a transformation of consciousness, moving from a state of self-centeredness to one of complete God-consciousness, where the individual realizes their true identity as a part of the Divine. It is a continuous process of spiritual growth and devotion, leading to the ultimate union with the Creator. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
