Daily Hukamnama
Each morning, the Guru Granth Sahib is opened at Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. The shabad on that page is the Hukamnama for the day. It is the Guru's word, spoken fresh to the Sangat every morning.

How to receive the Hukamnama
The Hukamnama is not a fortune or a prediction. It is the Guru's teaching for the day, drawn from the Guru Granth Sahib, the eternal living Guru. Sikhs understand it as the Guru speaking directly to the circumstances of the Sangat.
The practice is simple. Before you begin your day, read the shabad. Sit with it. Ask yourself what the Guru is saying to you today, in your life, in your circumstances. You do not need to understand Gurmukhi. The English translation carries the meaning faithfully.
The Hukamnama is read aloud in every Gurdwara during the morning Ardaas. Many families read it together at breakfast. It takes five minutes and can set the tone for the whole day.
"The Hukam of the Lord's Command is over all. Nothing is outside of His Hukam."
